If you are searching Baxi boilers, you are looking at the other British manufacturer in the UK combi market: built in Preston since 1866, a stainless steel heat exchanger across the ranges we have reviewed, and a 10-year parts-and-labour term on the 800 and the Platinum Compact. The catch is the spread. Five years on the 400, seven on the 600, ten on the two premium combis, and the long term on those two needs the Adey filter in the install.

Baxi boilers: brand verdict
The value British pick. Stainless steel heat exchangers on the 400, 800 and Platinum Compact, Preston manufacturing, and a 10-year term on the two premium combis that does not need a brand-accredited installer. The concession is the short 400 warranty, weaker modulation at the cheap end, and a smaller UK service network than Worcester. Heatable and iHeat both fit the brand. Quote Heatable first.

Warranty lengths are from Baxi UK’s current combi pages (400 Combi 2.1, 600 Combi 2, 800 Combi 2, Platinum Compact). Fitted prices are the ranges already used on our 400, 800 and Platinum Compact reviews. The 600 price band is the figure those reviews use for the mid tier; we have not published a 600 review of our own. Official pages also list a Duo-tec Compact (7 years) and a MainEco Compact. About Baxi
Baxi has made boilers in Preston, Lancashire since 1866, which our 800 review calls the oldest continuous boiler manufacturer in the UK. The current about page says a 1,200-strong UK team and a portfolio of heating brands, all sitting inside the Dutch-headquartered BDR Thermea Group. If you are buying partly on the British-factory story, the factory is still there. The owner is a European group, not an independent Preston firm.
In the UK the brand sits as the stainless-steel value alternative to Ideal (Hull, aluminium) and a cheaper route than Worcester or Vaillant. Which? owner surveys, as we cite on the model reviews, place Baxi in the top four UK boiler brands, behind Worcester and Vaillant and ahead of Ideal. Trustpilot across the range sits at 4.1 stars on those same reviews. Spare parts availability is strong: the 400 review says it shares roughly 60% of its parts catalogue with the 600 and 800; the Platinum Compact review puts the overlap with the 800 at about 70%.

The Baxi range explained
Baxi 400 Combi 2.1 (entry)
The cheapest Baxi we have reviewed. Combis in 24kW, 28kW and 30kW on our 400 review (424, 428, 430). Modulation 5:1. Hot water on the 430 is 11.6 L/min. Stainless steel heat exchanger. Our review lists the case at 590 × 390 × 280mm and 27kg. Baxi UK’s current 400 Combi 2.1 page lists 700 × 395 × 285mm, so treat the official page as current for the 2.1 refresh and confirm clearance on the quote.
Warranty: Baxi UK’s 400 page says a 5-year parts and labour warranty. Our 400 review says 5 years as standard, extending to 7 with a Baxi accredited installer and registration within 30 days. Those two figures disagree, so ask which term is in the quote. A like-for-like 430 swap typically lands between £1,750 and £2,000 fitted; the 424 and 428 sit in the £1,650 to £1,950 band. Baxi 600 Combi 2 (mid, not reviewed)
Baxi UK’s 600 Combi 2 page puts it as compact, simple to use, with a 7-year parts and labour warranty, EasyFill, uSense 2 compatibility and a pre-heated condensate trap. Our 400 and Platinum Compact reviews place it at 6:1 modulation, about £1,850 to £2,150 fitted, and a compact 590mm height / 280mm depth. We have not published a HeatScore or a full 600 review, so those figures are the ones already used on the neighbouring reviews, not a new measurement.
Baxi 800 Combi 2 (premium-mainstream)
The model we rank as best value overall on the best combi boiler UK list. Combis 824, 828, 830 and 836, plus system variants 218, 225 and 230. Modulation 8:1. Hot water on the 830 is 12.2 L/min; the 836 is 14.7 L/min. Stainless steel heat exchanger. Quiet Mark accredited on the Combi 2 refresh. OpenTherm-native for third-party thermostats.
Warranty: Baxi UK’s 800 Combi 2 page says a 10-year parts and labour warranty, and that the Adey Micro 2 filter must be installed and registered at the same time for that term to be valid. Our 800 review described 10 years as standard with no accredited-installer hoop, and a system filter included. The filter condition is the one to confirm on the quote.
Dimensions disagree across sources. Baxi UK’s 800 Combi 2 page lists 700 × 395 × 285mm. Our 800 review used 620 × 390 × 280mm. The Platinum Compact review describes the 800 as 338mm deep. Treat the official Combi 2 page as current and measure the cupboard before you order. Baxi Platinum Compact (compact specialist)
The surviving Platinum-badged combi, sold for depth-constrained cupboards. Our review lists 24kW, 28kW and 33kW, 8:1 modulation, 13.5 L/min on the 33, stainless steel, 700 × 395 × 285mm and a 10-year term with an Adey Micro 2 filter. Baxi UK’s Platinum Compact page lists 25kW, 30kW and 36kW. Those output labels disagree, so use the quote’s model number rather than the old 24/28/33 shorthand if the kW figure matters to you.
The Platinum Compact review’s case for itself is depth: 285mm versus the 800 cabinet it describes as 338mm. If official 800 Combi 2 depth is also 285mm, that depth gap shrinks, which is another reason to confirm both cabinets on the live spec. Baxi warranties explained
Baxi UK’s warranty page says warranties of up to 10 years. The product pages then split that by range. The 10-year term on the 800 and the Platinum Compact is tied to the Adey Micro 2 filter being fitted and registered with the boiler. Annual Gas Safe servicing is required throughout or cover lapses.

Heatable and iHeat both register the warranty as part of the fixed-price job and include a filter. If you use a local engineer, get the registration confirmation in writing and check the Adey Micro 2 is in the price on an 800 or Platinum Compact. If you want a long warranty with no filter-brand hoop and no accreditation condition, Alpha gives ten years as standard on the E-Tec Plus, rising to 13 with the Premier Pack Plus. That is the cleaner paperwork, not the stronger UK factory story.

The read across those four: Baxi wins on stainless steel at a lower fitted price than Worcester or Vaillant, and on a 10-year 800 term that does not need a brand-accredited fitter. Worcester wins on the service network and the badge. Vaillant wins on modulation depth. Ideal wins on price per pound if you will accept aluminium. Are Baxi boilers any good?
Yes, if you buy the right tier. The 800 scores 8.0 on our HeatScore and is the value pick on the shortlist. The Platinum Compact scores 7.9 for cupboard depth. The 400 scores 7.3 and is the entry pitch: stainless steel and a Preston badge at Ideal-Logic money, with a 5-year official term and 5:1 modulation.
Our boiler lifespan guide puts Baxi at 12 to 15 years with annual servicing, against 15 to 18 for Worcester and Vaillant and 10 to 15 for Ideal. That is a brand-level average from that guide, not a promise on any one install. Servicing is also what keeps the warranty valid.
The concessions are the short 400 warranty, the 5:1 modulation on that entry combi, a smaller engineer network than Worcester, and lower homeowner recognition at resale. The 800 is the one that makes the brand case. The 400 is the one you buy when the budget stops below £2,000 fitted.
Baxi customer service
Baxi’s UK support, warranty claims and engineer dispatch run from the UK. We have not published the phone number here in case it changes; the current number is on Baxi’s own site. The network is smaller than Worcester’s. Rural Scotland and Wales can wait longer for a warranty visit, which is the same pattern we note on Vaillant.
For installation issues, your installer is the first call. For a Baxi that is Heatable or iHeat. For warranty repairs once the boiler is registered and serviced, Baxi handles the claim.
uSense 2 and smart thermostats
Baxi’s own smart thermostat is uSense 2, around £180 fitted on our reviews. It covers remote scheduling, weather compensation and Alexa or Google Assistant. The Platinum Compact review also notes a £40 gateway kit for full functionality. The 800 supports OpenTherm natively for tado°, Honeywell Evohome, Drayton Wiser and Nest with the OpenTherm Heat Link. Our 800 review puts the handshake at about 80% of what you would get on a Vaillant ecoTEC Plus.
The 400 is weaker here. Our 400 review describes OpenTherm in basic form only, so a tado° or Nest loses most of the modulation benefit. If you already own a third-party smart thermostat, the step up to the 800 is the one that uses it.

Should you buy a Baxi boiler in 2026?
Buy one if you want stainless steel and a UK factory without Worcester money, you will stay long enough for the 800’s 10-year term to matter, and you are happy with a smaller service network. Quote Heatable first.
- 3-bed semi, one bathroom, staying 8+ years: Baxi 800 Combi 830. 12.2 L/min, 8:1 modulation, 10-year term with the Adey filter. HeatScore 8.0.
- Same home, budget under £2,000 fitted: Baxi 400 Combi 430. Same stainless exchanger, 5:1 modulation, official 5-year term. HeatScore 7.3.
- Cupboard under about 320mm deep: Platinum Compact, the 28 or the 33. HeatScore 7.9. Confirm the 800 Combi 2 will not fit first; official 800 depth is also 285mm.
- Two bathrooms in regular use: 800 Combi 836 at 14.7 L/min, or an 800 system boiler with a cylinder if two showers run at once.
