The Worcester Bosch Greenstar range explained
Worcester’s combi range now runs across four main tiers. Older ranges (Greenstar i, CDi Classic, Lifestyle) have been phased out or rebranded into the 1000/2000/4000/8000+ lineup. If you have a Greenstar i today, the modern equivalent is the Greenstar 4000, designed as a like-for-like replacement with matching fixing points and pipe centres.
Greenstar 1000 (entry-level)
The cheapest Worcester combi and the most interesting one. It is compact enough for a standard kitchen cupboard at 655 × 395 × 285mm, weighs around 26kg, runs at 94% efficiency, includes QuickTap for faster hot water, and, unexpectedly, carries a stainless steel heat exchanger that the two models above it do not.
The catches are real: 5:1 modulation is the weakest in the range and will short-cycle on mild days, hot water flow is modest at 8.5 to 10.5 L/min, it is natural gas only, and the five-year guarantee is the shortest Worcester offers and cannot be extended at any price. Greenstar 2000 (entry-mid)
Worcester’s volume seller and the quietest combi they build, with independent Quiet Mark accreditation. It takes LPG as well as natural gas, which the 1000 does not, fits a standard cupboard at 724 × 400 × 300mm, and carries a seven-year guarantee. It is a Which? Best Buy.

Greenstar 4000 (volume seller)
The boiler most Worcester Accredited Installers fit by default. Available in 25kW and 30kW, it covers small-to-medium homes with one bathroom comfortably and performs notably well on sites with poor incoming mains pressure. Solar compatible, EasyControl ready, and the cheapest Greenstar that reaches a 10-year guarantee.

Greenstar 8000+ (premium)
Worcester’s flagship, and the only mainstream UK combi that genuinely handles two simultaneous showers. Built for busy family homes with multiple bathrooms in simultaneous use, available as combi, system or regular, supporting EasyControl or third-party thermostats via OpenTherm, and qualifying for the full 12-year guarantee when registered with a Greenstar System Filter fitted. It comes in a standard white casing or the 8000 Style high-gloss black or white finish, which genuinely looks more like an appliance than a boiler. Worcester Bosch guarantees explained
Worcester deliberately says “guarantee” rather than “warranty”, and their position is that a guarantee is a commitment to fix the problem rather than a contract with conditions to argue over. There is no call-out charge on a guarantee visit provided the boiler has been serviced annually.
The length depends on the model, and the conditions differ more than most buyers realise. These are Worcester’s own published terms:

Three things worth pulling out of that table. First, the 1000 and 2000 cannot be extended at all. Worcester’s terms state outright that there is no upgrade option on either. If you want ten years, you have to buy a 4000; there is no cheaper route to it.
Second, the 1000 and 2000 accept any brand of system filter, where the 4000 and 8000 require a genuine Greenstar filter for their longer terms. That is quietly more flexible at the cheap end and can save money on the install.
Third, the extended terms are tied to installer accreditation. The longest lengths come through a Worcester Accredited Installer or Accredited Partner. If your installer is on Worcester’s loyalty programme but is not accredited, they can still unlock the extended length by paying a small fee through their loyalty account, so it is worth asking rather than assuming.
